Frequently Asked Questions

How do I care and store my waders?

Unpack and unroll waders as soon as you return home or to camp. Rinse with tap water after use. If waders are dirty or have been used in salt water, hand wash in warm water with a mild detergent or use Hodgman® Wader Wash (T353). Do not bleach, machine dry, iron, or dry clean. Prior to storage, your waders must be completely dry inside and out. Store upside-down out of sunlight and away from electrical appliances. Do not expose waders to excessive heat. Keep away from open fires.

How should my waders fit?

Hodgman waders are available in many sizes. Fit should be loose with ample material to accomodate any normal body motion (bending, stepping, casting, etc.). Allow extra room for socks and undergarments if needed. Leg length is most important. You should be able to place one foot on a chair without any excessive bending.

Should I wear a flotation device with my waders?

Yes!  We strongly recommend that a flotation device and/or wading belt be worn when wearing waders.  Please see the selection of Hodgman flotation vests in our products section.

Do you repair or make custom fit waders?

Unfortunately, we do not repair, retrofit, or special make sizes.  If you are having trouble finding a size that will fit, you may contact us with your measurements, and we will be happy to help you with information on sizing.

What size wading shoe should I purchase?

It is always best to try on wading shoes with the waders you will be wearing, just as you would do with any pair of street shoes.  You should be able to purchase the same sized wading shoe as your street shoes.  The wading shoes are only available in whole sizes, if you normally wear a half size go up to the next size.
